Basic Debt Letter — £10

Basic drafted debt letter for UK consumers, via Citizens Advice referral.

The rules

  • £10 per letter
  • Requires a Citizens Advice referral — no referral, no service at this price
  • One draft — no revisions included
  • One referral per customer — the £10 rate applies once
  • UK consumers only

What’s covered

The £10 basic debt letter covers six common consumer debt scenarios. Choose the one that matches your situation when you contact us:

  1. Dispute the debt / prove it’s owed — for debts you don’t recognise, or where you want the creditor to prove the debt is genuinely yours before you pay anything
  2. Request the credit agreement (Consumer Credit Act Section 78) — a formal request for the original credit agreement, which the creditor must produce if you owe on a consumer credit product
  3. Offer reduced monthly payments — a written offer of a lower affordable payment based on your circumstances
  4. Statute-barred / debt too old to claim — for older debts where the limitation period may have expired
  5. Stop contacting me at work — a formal notice requiring the creditor to cease workplace contact
  6. Response to court claim / Letter Before Action — a response to a claim form or pre-action letter you’ve received

How it works

  1. Take the debt document you’ve received to Citizens Advice. Ask them to write a referral to ClearDraft for a basic debt letter.
  2. Email us the CAB referral letter plus the debt document. Send both to hello@cleardraft.co.uk. Tell us which of the six letter types you need.
  3. Pay £10 using the button below. This confirms your instruction.
  4. We draft your letter and email it back to you. You print it, sign it, and send it to your creditor.

Secure payment via Stripe. Please make sure you have already emailed your CAB referral and debt document to hello@cleardraft.co.uk before or immediately after paying — we cannot draft the letter without both.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need a Citizens Advice referral?

The £10 price only works because we’re serving people who have already been triaged by Citizens Advice for genuine debt help. Without the referral, the standard general letter service (£45) applies.

What does the referral letter need to say?

It should be on Citizens Advice letterhead or clearly identify the CAB office, name you as the person being referred, and confirm that you have sought debt help from them. Anything Citizens Advice would write in a routine referral is fine — there’s no specific wording we require.

How quickly will I receive the drafted letter?

We’ll email it back to you after payment and receipt of your CAB referral and debt document. Please allow a reasonable delivery window.

Can I make changes after I receive the letter?

The £10 service is one draft with no revisions. If you need changes, that becomes a new instruction at the standard rate. Please read the draft carefully before sending it.

Can I use this service more than once?

The £10 rate applies once per customer. If you need further debt letters, the standard general letter service (£45) applies.

What if my situation is more complex than the six letter types?

The £10 basic service only covers the six standard consumer debt scenarios listed. If your situation is more complex — multiple creditors requiring coordinated correspondence, contested credit agreements, or contested court proceedings — the general letter (£45) or letter before action (£125) service is more appropriate. Contact us and we’ll advise.

Is ClearDraft a solicitor or debt adviser?

No. ClearDraft is a document drafting service. We prepare the letter based on the referral and the debt document you provide. We do not give debt advice, negotiate on your behalf, or represent you. That’s Citizens Advice’s role — which is why the referral is required.
